Football Fans - Extra credit 2

Football fans have got to be some of the craziest people in the world. When people fall in love with a professional football team they will do some crazy stuff to support their team. I have seen people shave logos on the side of their head, tattoos, car paint, flags on their house, and will buy tones of clothes and jerseys with their favorite team’s logo on it. When fans become so passionate about a team they almost get a feeling they are part of the team when they lose or when they win.
When you go to a game, you notice people in body paint, and decked out in clothes with their favorite team logo. I love going to games because I love seeing people’s passion for the game of football and how much support they give their favorite team. Some fans will travel thousands of miles each and every week to see their team play. Some will tail gate and party before the game and make game day a full day event. I love watching some of the most dedicated football fans get mad, because they will go on a rampage and get so upset that they won’t talk for hours.
I think a big part of football games are the fans, without the fans games would not be near as much fun, and players would not be near as excited to play the game of football. Without football fans going to game their wouldn’t be near as much excitement, what makes a football game fun is the noise and the passion fans show to their teams to help them win week in and week out. I myself am a diehard broncos fan and I hope to someday be able to buy season tickets every single year so I can support my home team, and get the real life experience of being at the game.

Extra Credit blog- football penalties

A football game can be won or loss by a matter of inches, but penalties can also play a huge role in the final factor on who wins the football game.  Penalties have changed the game so much now a days, there is such a fine line on what is aloud and what is not aloud when it comes to holding, hitting, and pass interference. I hate when I watch a game and referees are the ones who are messing up the game. Someone once told me that if you do not know the referees are there while watching the game, they are doing their job. Millions of Fans watch their favorite football team week in and week out, and the last thing they want to see is a referee interfering with the game with stupid or wrong penalties.
But on the other hand you never want to see a player get hurt due to an illegal tackle or hit. That’s why penalties are very important, so that players are aware of what is aloud and what is not aloud. I am glad to see that people are starting to discuss more about penalties because hopefully someday the risk of injury in football will decrease. I know injuries will never go aware but I hope some of them can be avoided with more enforced rules. I also think it’s great when coaches preach to their kids about winning a football game the right way. And that is by good hard smash mouth football, you play clean during the play and after the whistle. I really do believe that referees are doing a great job in helping with safety of players on the football field. Without penalties I think injuries would be doubled and it would be a wild mess while playing a game.

High school Coach

His name is Andy Lowry one of the best coaches I have ever been around. He was my high school football coach at columbine high school. When you met Coach Lowry he was always a person everyone respected, and was such an easy guy you could talk to. Coach Lowry was a guy who had all of his players trust; because he put in so much work each and every week to help the team win on game day.  He always said when we worked out “Character is you are when no one is watching”; when coach would say this it made everyone take their work load to the next level. He wasn’t the tallest or biggest coach by any means, but for some reason he had a way to get the best out of each one of his players. Coach Lowry did not just coach only during the football season; he coached the team all year long so they were prepared for the football season. He put in so many hours, and all of his work pays off when we win games every year. Coach Lowry never was a big yeller, but when he did he immediately got everyone’s attention. When someone would screw up he would always say “what were you thinking knuckle head”, this was one of Coach Lowry’s favorite lines, coach always meant business when he stepped on the football field. Coach Lowry has respect from many people around the city because of all the great things he has accomplished, and all the things he has taught young men through the game of football. Coach is definitely well respected and will go down as one of the best high school football coaches of all time. Andy never wanted the fame, every interview he had, he brought his kids to, and he always gave glory to his coaching staff and players. Coach Lowry has impacted many lives by his generosity and hard work for the community of columbine high school.

Team work

As we all know many parents get there kids involved in sports because it helps them learn character, teamwork, and leadership qualities. When you play the game of football you have to play as a team or your chances of winning are very slim. When I played football I remember a game very vividly, I was 14 years old and are football team was undefeated. We came into a game with a couple of are key players injured, but are attitude was, we could not be beaten. Well that day we lost to are rival, there team name was called the warriors. Well both are teams ended up the season winning the rest of our games; both teams only had one loss.  It ended up, we played each other again in the championship game, but this time we had all of our players healthy. When are whole team played together that night we ended up winning by fifty points. Every person on are team contributed to the big win, it was a team win because we had great teamwork. Moral of the story is, if you don’t have good team work and you don’t play as a team you will have a very difficult time trying to win games. Sometimes when a very good team plays a decent team, the decent team wins most the time if they play together as a team. In the game of football I truly believe that teamwork is the most important attribute every athlete needs to have to be successful in sports. Along with teamwork come trust, respect, and a bond that becomes very hard to break. Football is probably the biggest team sport, because you cannot win a game with just one player unlike other sports. Throughout my years of playing football teamwork is one of the most valuable things I took from the game. Football has the ability to teach more than just touchdowns and tackles. It has the tools to teach people about life lessons and things they can use for the rest of their lives.

Narative blog

It was a brisk Sunday morning, the winter weather was just right around the corner, the grass was wet and snow was covering the ground. As the game began the other team was wearing all red with a look on their face that they wanted to win. This is wear it all began an injury that could take 6 months to recover from.  On the football field you have many athletes running at each other full rate of speed, so when you get hit the outcome isn’t always good. Injuries are very common in the game of football, all athletes that play the sport can agree with the statement “football is a dangerous sport”. I myself have had my share of injuries, from broken bones, concussions, torn ligaments and cuts and bruises. On this Sunday morning all things were going according to plan, we were winning and I was playing a very good game with a interception and a touchdown within thirty minutes of the game. I felt as if everything was going according to plan until I we ran a very basic play which entitles me to go out for a long streak. Are team approached the ball, I noticed the other team playing a cover two defense which means the quarterback would most likely throw the ball to me. Next thing I know the ball was snapped and I went on my streak, the quarterback threw the long ball to me, but he threw it a little too short, I planted my right leg to come back to the ball and next thing I know I hear my knee snap. I immediately dropped to the ground in agenizing pain. I knew immediately that I tore my ACL and it wasn’t good.  So as you can see injuries can happen at any point of a game, I obviously did not see it coming.  This is important because it has such a major role into all sport topics, because injuries in sports are very common. When a Injury occurs it is never a good thing to see. Sports injuries can definitely for shadow later events, because there are a lot of events that you have to go through for an injury to happen and recover from.

Reserach knowledge

Research Knowledge

During my research on coaching little league football, I learned a lot of new material. Something new that I learned was how important it is to gain a relationship with the players parents. When you are able to gain this relationship they are more willing to trust you with their kid. Another thing I learned while researching my topic was how important giving the same amount attention to every kid is, you can’t as a coach just give all your time to the starters or the superstars. And finally the last thing I learned that was awesome researching about was what it takes to be a successful coach, and how you have to go through many steps to get ready for game day. I think the coolest thing I learned was talking about how a coach should give his pre-game speech to get the team all fired up and ready to play.
While researching this topic I found out that I would like to study more into the higher ranks of coaching, like high school and college. Also another path I might want to take would be strategic moves as a coach during a game to catch your opponent off guard. Now that I set the ground work into coaching, I feel as if there is a million different ways I could go. I would also like to learn more about behind the scenes from a business perspective in college and professional football.
All and all this research paper has taught me a lot about coaching little league football and at the end of day has made me want to study more. Like I said in my paper I always feel like a coach or a player can learn more. Football is a sport that is always changing, so you need to keep learning to become the best you can be.

Web source- concussion

Football is a compact sport; there is a chance for injury at any second during a football game. You see players hitting, punching, tackling and tripping and when you put all of that together the outcome isn’t always good. In this blog I’m going to discuss about a source I found on the internet about concussions in football. Concussion are very serious injuries because it has to do with your brain, too many concussions is what took me away from football at the collegiate level. In this blog I am going to discuss the argument and the strengths I found about this source on the internet.
In the article written by the new york times, they stated in their argument how you can sustain a concussion, the effects of a concussion, the long term effects of a concussion and what the NFL is changing to prevent these serious injuries from the game. What I found very interesting is that 60 percent of the people they studied after retiring from the NFL said they had at least sustained one concussion, and 26 percent had three or more.

While reading this source, it was extremely easy to relate too because I myself have had many concussions while playing football. I am going to use this source to explain the effects of injuries and the long term effects football injuries can cause on athletes all around the world. I think it’s great now days that they are changing roles all around the world, from little league all the way to the NFL. I am really glad they are focusing on player’s safety, because football is a violent sport and we need all the roles possible to keep people healthy and not injured.
I plan to write a lot more in the future about concussions and injuries that happen on the football field. I think everyone needs to learn about the effects concussions can have on people, because in some cases you can die from a concussion. Your head is definitely not something you want to mess around with.
